Description
Ensures compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations and serve as a primary liaison with regulatory agencies that oversee oil and natural gas permitting. Manage the preparation, coordination, and filing of compliance documents and state and federal permits while keeping leadership informed of evolving regulatory requirements and policy changes. This role is based in Denver, Colorado.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and file required federal and state permits for Utah drilling, completions, and workover projects.
- Review technical drilling, completions, and other reports to ensure accurate, timely permit and sundry submissions.
- Collaborate with asset teams to prioritize projects, secure permits, and ensure regulatory compliance post-spud and production.
- Develop strong working relationships and maintain regular communication with key regulatory and permitting agencies (BLM, BIA, UDOGM) regarding permit status, completeness, and accuracy.
- Support resolution of regulatory issues related to field operations, environment, and safety.
- Build strong working relationships with engineering, reservoir, geology, land, field, and other internal teams.
- Monitor permit expirations and update internal teams as needed based on project changes.
- Stay current on regulatory and policy changes and communicate impacts to the business.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all regulatory, environmental, safety, and company policies.
Qualifications
Education, Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Combination of Education and/or Experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Minimum of Three (3) years of state and federal permitting and regulatory focused experience within the oil and gas industry
- Minimum of Five (5) years oil and gas industry.
- Utah and BLM permitting, experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations, with an emphasis on Utah operations.
- Strong consideration given to breadth of permitting experience covering drilling, completions, and production incorporating standard drill readiness as well as additional infrastructure projects such as salt water disposal (SWD) wells, pipelines, and produced water storage/transfer.
- Ability to read, research, comprehend and communicate regulatory issues related to oil and gas operations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain effective relationships with various regulatory agencies and all levels of company staff and management.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed drilling and completions reports and understand oil and gas operations terminology.
- Established proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel and Word and state and federal permitting platforms, including BLM Automated Fluid Minerals Support System (AFMSS) and Utah ePermit.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, visual and mental acuity, manual dexterity, hearing, speaking.
- Site visits require PPE (hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and FR clothing) and adherence to OSHA and DOT safety rules. Must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
- 25-50% of work will require travel to the Myton, Utah field office and/or Utah based regulatory bodies in the Uinta Basin or Salt Lake City.
- Ability to work at computer for long periods of time.
Environmental Conditions
- Performs duties both indoors in an office setting and outdoors while on-site.

Compensation and Benefits
- $95,000 – $130,000 annual salary
