Responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with human resource policy as well as ensuring that hiring preference is afforded to Pokagon Band members and Native Americans in accordance with the company mission and objectives.

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent, or three to four years human resource experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
Special Qualifications
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Computer literate in Microsoft Office products. Experience with an HRIS programs preferred.
This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to write effective letters, memos, speeches and articles for publication. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from staff members at all levels, guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings. Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following
- Acts as a liaison between management and employee to resolve disputes.
- Develops procedures to ensure hiring preference is afforded to Native Americans.
- Communicates with all levels of management and supervisors regarding property policies and procedures.
- Informs Director of Tribal Placement and Development of any situation that may require further attention.
- Advises management of problems and concerns of employees, giving recommendations for resolution.
- Participates as a team member within the Human Resource Department in order to ensure an efficiently organized and operated department.
- Counsels employees and assists in resolving work related and/or personal problems by communicating with appropriate members of management and utilizing outside support groups.
- Conducts investigations into any alleged employee harassment claims as requested by the Director of Tribal Placement. Ensures a documented, complete investigation for all cases.
- Assists in the efforts to develop sources of qualified applicants, conducts screening interviews, administer tests, evaluates applicant qualifications, initiates job postings, and assists in the initial orientation of newly hired employees.
- Keeps accurate and timely records and prepares statistical reports concerning recruitment, applicants, and interviews.
- Assist the Director of Training in coordinating career development programs for Band members and Native Americans in accordance with the company objective and mission.
- Maintains current knowledge of all applicable state and federal employment laws as well as and local jurisdiction gaming laws and the property’s Policies and Procedures.
