Senior Safety and Compliance Manager
Salary Range: Competitive compensation starting at $120,000 annually (minimum base pay), plus benefits and bonus eligibility.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven safety professional to lead and elevate our Safety and Compliance program at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). This role is ideal for a high-performing individual ready to step into a senior or director-level position and make a meaningful impact across a workforce of approximately 250 tradespeople in Atlanta, Chamblee, Lawrenceville, Ft. Collins and Puerto Rico.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving safety programs while fostering a culture of accountability, compliance, and operational excellence.
Reporting Structure
• Direct Report: Contract Administrator
• Indirect Report: Vice President of Operations
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage all aspects of the Safety Department across the organization
• Maintain, update, and enhance the company’s Safety Manual and Safety Program
• Conduct routine and targeted safety audits to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities
• Draft detailed inspection reports to document findings and corrective actions
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety and compliance documentation and records
• Oversee, schedule, monitor and track CDC-mandated vaccinations as applicable
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and industry safety regulations
• Conduct incident root cause analysis and corrective management
• Perform all other duties assigned
Leadership & Training Responsibilities
• Promote a proactive safety culture focused on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Train management staff to:
Conduct effective safety and compliance training programs
Perform thorough accident investigations
Identify root causes and implement corrective actions
Required Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of safety experience in construction, industrial, or a related field
• Prior leadership experience preferred, but candidates ready to transition into a senior or director-level role are encouraged to apply
Education & Certifications
Preferred Degrees:
• B.S. in Occupational Safety & Health
• B.S. in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
• B.S. in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health
Equivalent Certifications, in lieu of degree:
• CSP – Certified Safety Professional
• ASP – Associate Safety Professional
• SMS – Safety Management Specialist
Technical Knowledge & Expertise
Strong working knowledge and/or certification in:
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry
• NFPA 70E Electrical Safety
• First Aid / CPR / AED
• Confined Space Safety
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
• Aerial Lift / MEWP Safety
• Hazard Communication (HazCom) / GHS
• Respiratory Protection
• Hot Work Safety
• Ladder Safety
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 standards is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Box Cloud Management System
• Proficient in computer software for safety management and reporting
Physical Requirements
• Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout active job sites for extended periods
• Ability to climb ladders, access elevated work areas, and navigate uneven terrain
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and fall protection as needed
• Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to identify hazards and ensure safety compliance
Work Environment
• Combination of office, lab and field-based work
• Regular exposure to construction and industrial job site conditions, including noise, dust, temperature variations, and heavy equipment
• Local travel and 10% travel out-of-state
• Company-furnished truck and gas allowance provided
• May require early mornings, extended hours, or occasional weekend work based on project and operational needs
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with shifting priorities
