Hospice CNA / Hospice Aide
Position Summary
The Hospice Aide provides personal care and supportive services to hospice patients in their place of residence under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment while supporting patients and families with compassionate end-of-life care.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care according to the Hospice Plan of Care
Assist patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, transfers, ambulation, and nutrition
Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable patient environment
Observe, report, and document changes in patient condition and care provided
Practice infection control and safety procedures
Communicate respectfully and compassionately with patients, families, and staff
Assist with treatments and procedures according to hospice policy
Support the hospice philosophy and quality of care standards
Demonstrate effective time management and teamwork
Qualifications
High School Diploma preferred
Completion of CNA, Hospice Aide, Home Health Aide, or state-approved Nurse Aide Training/Competency Program
One year of experience preferred in hospice, home health, hospital, nursing home, or long-term care
Ability to read, write, and communicate clinical information effectively
Compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused
Successful completion of competency evaluation and skills testing
Requirements
Current driver’s license
Reliable transportation
Valid auto liability insurance
Working Conditions
Travel to patient homes required
Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and various home environments
Flexible schedule and local travel required
Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, transfer patients, and use durable medical equipment safely
