What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook position at FOUNTAINVIEW CENTER LP?
The purpose of this position is to prepare and provide food service to residents in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to:
- Prepare residents’ diets in accordance with diet orders and daily menus.
- Assist the food service supervisor to determine the amount and type of food necessary to prepare the daily menus.
- Monitor use of food to eliminate waste.
- Follow posted menus for food preparation.
- Stock food in compliance with dietary policies and procedures.

1. Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner. |

2. Prepare food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance. |

3. Follow oral and written directions. |
|
4. Keep work area clean and sanitize work surfaces after food preparation. |
|
5. Follow written menus and recipes. |

6. Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets. |

7. Be responsible for avoiding food waste. |
|
8. Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules. |
|
9. Be responsible for care of food service equipment. |
|
10. Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments. |
|
11. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. |
|
12. Attend in-service training programs for food service employees. |
|
13. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor. |
|

Qualifications:
Highschool Diploma or GED
Prior one year experience in dietary department.
