Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kennel Assistant to join our veterinary team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our patients and clients while providing daily care for boarding animals. The ideal candidate is compassionate toward animals, detail-oriented, and takes pride in maintaining high cleanliness standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinic Cleaning & Sanitation
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, exam rooms, treatment areas, and common spaces
- Launder bedding, towels, and other clinic materials
- Properly dispose of waste and follow infection control protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well stocked facility at all times
Animal Care
- Feed, water, and monitor boarding animals according to instructions
- Walk dogs and clean litter boxes and enclosures
- Observe animals for signs of illness, stress, or discomfort and report concerns to staff
- Provide comfort, basic handling, and enrichment for boarding pets
Additional Duties
- Assist veterinary staff as needed with non-medical tasks
- Restock supplies and notify management of inventory needs
- Follow all clinic safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Genuine interest in animal care and welfare
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and cleaning for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Previous kennel, animal care, or cleaning experience preferred but not required
