What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Mechanic position at Foundit Headhunters?
Master Automotive Technician — Foreign & Domestic Vehicles
Job Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: Highly Experienced / Master-Level Technician
Pay: Competitive — Based on Experience & Skill
About the Position
We are looking for a highly experienced Automotive Technician who knows vehicles inside and out and can diagnose problems that other technicians struggle to find.
We’re looking for the kind of mechanic who can hear an engine, feel a vibration, take a vehicle for a quick drive, and have a pretty good idea of what’s wrong before the hood is even opened. Someone who has spent years working on vehicles and has developed the instincts that only come from extensive hands-on experience.
Our shop works on both foreign and domestic vehicles, and we need a technician who is comfortable diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of makes and models.
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive professional automotive repair experience
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working on both foreign and domestic vehicles
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, drivability, and performance issues
- Strong understanding of engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems
- Ability to use modern diagnostic equipment and scan tools
- Excellent mechanical intuition and attention to detail
- Ability to identify the root cause of a problem rather than simply replacing parts
- Comfortable working independently and making informed diagnostic decisions
- Takes pride in quality workmanship and doing the job right the first time
- Reliable, professional, and committed to customer satisfaction
The Technician We Want
You know the difference between a symptom and the actual problem.
You don't just read a trouble code—you understand why the code is there.
You don't throw parts at a vehicle hoping something fixes it.
You've worked on enough cars over the years that when a vehicle pulls into the shop, you can often hear, smell, see, or feel something isn't right before the diagnostic process even begins.
If other technicians come to you when they can't figure out a difficult problem, we want to talk to you.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose automotive problems accurately and efficiently
- Perform major and minor mechanical repairs
- Troubleshoot difficult and intermittent problems
- Inspect vehicles and identify necessary repairs
- Perform preventative maintenance and general service
- Use diagnostic equipment and technical resources when necessary
- Communicate findings and repair recommendations clearly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
- Complete repairs safely and according to professional standards
Qualifications
- Several years of professional automotive repair experience required
- Strong diagnostic experience preferred
- Experience with both foreign and domestic vehicles
- ASE certifications are a plus, but proven experience and diagnostic ability are highly valued
- Valid driver's license
- Own professional hand tools
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
Why Join Us?
We value experience, skill, honesty, and craftsmanship. This isn't a position for someone who simply knows how to replace parts. We're looking for a true technician who understands vehicles and takes pride in solving problems others can't.
If you've been working on cars long enough that you can almost "smell what's wrong" when one pulls into the shop, we'd like to meet you.
Apply today and tell us about your experience, the types of vehicles you've worked on, and the toughest diagnostic problem you've ever solved.
