What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Soccer Coach position at Foundation Youth Activities Club, DBA Foundation...?
Foundation F.C., the newest youth soccer club in Ann Arbor, is seeking one or two enthusiastic and dedicated head coaches for its two U10 youth soccer teams, known as the Fyrd, which play in the Western Suburban Soccer League (WSSL). Responsibilities will be to plan and lead one 1-1/2 hour practice each week during the season, and coach one or two games each week, which will be played in Ann Arbor or a nearby community. Successful coaching candidates will have soccer experience, in-depth knowledge of the game, and the ability to teach young people to play the game of soccer in an engaging and age-appropriate way. In addition, head coaches will be responsible for managing assistant coaches, setting goals for the teams with regard to both the development of technical skills and tactical understanding, and fostering a culture of teamwork, learning, and respect among the players and coaches.
Practices will start in mid-March, and games will be played on the weekends and the occasional weekday in April and May. No particular educational or professional background is necessary, but experience working with children and/or coaching are greatly preferred. Pay is commensurate with experience, and hiring is contingent on the ability to pass WSSL’s background check. Coaches must have or be able to obtain transportation to get to northwest Ann Arbor for practices, to Fuller Park for home games, and to neighboring communities for away games.
Foundation’s U10 teams compete in the recreational (as opposed to select) division of WSSL, which offers an opportunity for kids of varying abilities to play together. Foundation F.C. is a soccer club that believes in competition without specialization. All the kids in the club enjoy soccer, but they also play other sports and participate in other activities. Foundation wants to teach its players to be excellent soccer players, but also kind, well-rounded, and happy people. The coaches will play an important role in all those efforts.
