Finance Director / Reporting – Job Description
Position Title: Finance Director/Reporting
Department: Finance
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Dallas, TX
Employment Type: Full-time/ Exempt
Compensation Range: $150,000 - $175,000 Negotiable base annual discretionary bonus
Job Summary
The Director of Finance role includes leading financial planning, strategy, and operations, overseeing budgeting and forecasting, and managing accounting and finance teams. Key responsibilities involve ensuring financial health, advising executives on strategic decisions, managing risk, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting and Documentation:
o Ensure accurate and timely reporting of structured finance activities and compliance status.
o Maintain comprehensive documentation of all structured finance transactions and compliance activities.
o Review the financial statements and lender compliance certificates with Accounting and Financial Reporting teams before CFO’s review and distribution to internal and external parties
o Ensure accurate and timely reporting of fund activities, including performance metrics, risk assessments, and compliance status.
o Maintain relationships with fund investors, providing transparent communication and addressing any concerns or inquiries.
Investor Relations:
o Manage relationships with existing and potential investors, providing updates on fund performance and addressing any concerns.
o Prepare and present detailed reports on fund performance, strategy, and outlook to investors and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with investor agreements and regulatory requirements in all investor communications.
Compliance Management:
o Ensure the company's structured finance activities comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
o Oversee the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
o Monitor regulatory changes and update compliance practices accordingly.
Due Diligence and Analysis:
o Conduct thorough due diligence on potential transactions, including financial, legal, and operational assessments.
o Prepare detailed financial analyses, reports, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management:
o Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulators, legal advisors, and financial institutions.
o Communicate effectively with senior management and the board of directors on structured finance and compliance matters.
Required Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of real estate finance, underwriting principles, and investment analysis.
• Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis.
• Strong understanding of risk management and internal control frameworks.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with non-owner-occupied residential properties, small-balance commercial loans, and long-term DSCR rental loans.
• Background collaborating with institutional clients (private lenders, banks, private equity firms).
Education & Licensing
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or related field.
• MBA or CFA candidate preferred but not required.
• Continuing education in real estate finance, credit risk, or capital markets is considered an asset.
Technical Skills
• Ability to apply real estate finance principles using Excel models and LOS systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, amortization schedules, ROI calculations).
• Proficiency in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software, Sage, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and advanced spreadsheet skills.
• Ability to analyze borrower financials, rent rolls, proformas, and collateral valuations.
• Comfortable adopting and leveraging digital lending platforms and data-driven decision tools.
