Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to lead and strengthen core accounting operations and support accurate financial oversight for three entities in Long Beach, CA.
This position plays a central role in financial reporting, payroll coordination, accounts receivable and accounts payable oversight, and overall accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to keep multiple processes organized and moving forward at the same time.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial controls and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting for all entities
- Manage the general ledger and related records using cash-based accounting practices, ensuring transactions are properly documented and posted accurately
- Prepare recurring financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and supporting general ledger detail for owner review
- Manage month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet account review
- Supervise accounting assistant
- Review accounts receivable and accounts payable on a regular basis to help maintain strong financial control
- Oversee payroll processing and time-off tracking while ensuring employee records and related data remain current and accurate
- Oversee transactional workflows, including vendor invoicing, vendor receipt processing, vendor bill entry, and weekly payment runs
- File or oversee filing of government-assessed taxes, licenses, and fees, including business taxes, sales tax, permits, and related filings
- Assist with vendor account concerns related to vendor charges and outstanding balances
- Coordinate with outside accountants for annual review and tax return filing
- Develop and refine accounting workflows to improve efficiency and consistency
- Implement controls and standardized processes across accounting operations
- Oversee year-end payroll reporting and other required reporting, including 1099 preparation
Requirements:
- Must be available Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
- Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
- Strong ability to multitask and stay organized
- Proven experience and understanding of GAAP standards
- Cannabis or retail accounting experience is a plus
