Foundation for Blind Children is currently accepting applications for a full time Behavioral Specialist to join our Preschool and Elementary Team! This position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at our Central Campus at 1234 East Northern Avenue. Job Duties Include: 

  • Work one on one with a student to help them access the classroom and school environment.
  • Implement student Individualized Behavioral Intervention Plan.
  • Assist students with daily living skills such as toileting and feeding.
  • Train classroom staff on implementation of student’s Intervention Plan.
  • Assist with classroom planning and preparation of materials with the classroom team.
  • Prepare individualized plans for assigned students.
  • Assist with lifting, feeding, changing, toileting, and other supportive activities.
  • Adhere to agency policy and protocol.
  • Attend scheduled staff development training and meetings.
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a classroom setting working with severe and profound disabled students needing intensive supports is required.
  • Experience with and understanding of behavioral characteristics associated with autism and other behavior issues is required.
  • Experience working with students in grades K-5 needing intensive one on one support.
  • Experience working with and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic understanding of instructional methods and education curriculums.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain a calm demeanor in challenging situations.
  • Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card or ability to obtain clearance is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Salary : $22 - $26
