Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of heavy equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. You will work in a shop environment and collaborate closely with other team members to keep our fleet of equipment in top working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment, including vibrators, hammers, drills, and other construction or industrial machinery.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to identify mechanical issues, wear, and potential safety hazards.
  • Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled repairs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment readiness.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts of equipment as needed.
  • Perform engine overhauls, hydraulic and electrical system repairs, and replace worn or broken components.
  • Use diagnostic tools, computers, and other technology to assess issues and perform repairs.
  • Ensure that all repairs are completed as assigned.
  • Ensure all safety procedures and policies are followed during maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Keep the work area organized and clean to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
  • Collaborate with shop management and other mechanics to streamline processes and improve workflow.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED); relevant certifications or technical training is a plus, not required.
  • Previous experience working as a mechanic on heavy equipment or similar machinery is not necessary but a plus.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Ability to travel overnight and some weekends as needed.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Valid driver’s license, and ability to pass a background & drug check.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding conditions. (up to 50 lbs. at a time)

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, with possible overtime depending on workload and equipment needs.
  • Work performed in a shop environment with exposure to outdoor conditions.
  • Use of safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, and steel-toed boots is required.
  • Physical demands include lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Weekends as needed.
