Responsibilities
- Perform mowing, edging, trimming, and pruning of lawns, shrubs, trees, and flower beds using power tools, hand tools, and landscaping equipment.
- Operate grounds maintenance machinery such as excavators, snow plows, and irrigation systems to ensure optimal landscape health and safety.
- Identify various plants, trees, and pests to inform proper plant care and pest management strategies.
- Maintain irrigation systems by inspecting for leaks or malfunctions and making necessary adjustments to ensure proper watering schedules.
- Apply pesticides or fertilizers following safety protocols to protect plants from pests and promote healthy growth.
- Execute hardscape projects including the installation or repair of pathways, retaining walls, or other landscape features as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures diligently while operating equipment and working outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
Experience
- Prior outdoor work experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques including mowing, planting, pruning, and soil preparation.
- Familiarity with the operation of grounds maintenance equipment such as lawnmowers, power tools, irrigation systems, excavators, and snow plows.
- Ability to identify different plant species and diagnose common plant health issues.
- Experience with pesticide management and adherence to safety protocols related to chemical application.
- Construction experience or skills in hardscape installation are a plus but not required.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to outdoor work environments and equipment operation.
