Job Title: Color Lab Tech (ColorLabTech)

Primary Function: The primary responsibility of this role is to perform thermoplastic color-matching support and corrections. This position requires preparation of samples for use in all equipment in the Foster innovation center and operation of injection molding machines, 27mm and 18mm twin screw extruders, a DS single screw extruder, and the grinder.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following: other duties may be assigned.
- Supports the color matching process from blending ingredients to producing chips standards.
- Develop proficiency in the production of test samples on the injection molding machine and extrusion (twin screw and single screw), including the skills/techniques to process development materials and operate new molds.
- Set up IC equipment/ materials for development runs and operate or assist IC equipment during the trial as needed.
- Troubleshoots processing issues on existing molding process and assists in resolving equipment problems.
- Support operations with grinding materials
- Document and Maintain trial parameters, observations, and results.
- Evaluate new equipment for use in Foster’s Innovation Center
- Create or modify work instructions as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Assists in the preparation of technical documentation and procedures.
- Effective communication skills to execute core job responsibilities across the organization, including both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail, reading text, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Other duties as directed or assigned.

- Minimum of 3 years of plastics processing experience
- Must pass Foster color vision test.
- Knowledge of Injection molding, twin screw compounding, and single screw extrusion is necessary.
- Color Match experience is a plus.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of basic math skills.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow written instructions.
- Work in a self-directed manner by managing time and tasks to complete the work assigned.
Education and/or Experience: High school (technical school desirable.) Education may be substituted for experience. Technical and analytical abilities are important to the success of this position.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Language/Communication Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operational instructions, procedure manuals, and MSDS sheets.
- Ability to write routine reports.
Computer Skills: Must be proficient in using system programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Other Required Ability:
- Reasoning ability includes the ability to apply common sense to carry instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
