Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, education, or a related field, a Master’s Degree is preferred.
Certifications
- Must hold or be eligible to hold Maine DOE Endorsement (075)School Counselor or (040) Building Administrator
- Serve as the primary contact for partner schools, parents, and faculty regarding student-related matters, recruitment, and program information.
- Provide social-emotional support to students as needed during their time at FCTEC.
- Assist students with career and college planning, including field trips, college and industry presentations.
- Monitor student attendance and collaborate with the Assistant Director to implement interventions for improvement.
- Work with staff and administration to develop and implement intervention plans for students facing academic, behavioral, or attendance challenges.
2. Admissions & Recruitment
- Lead the admissions process, including producing and distributing promotional materials, coordinating visits, shadows, interviews, and assemblies.
- Organize and conduct tours for prospective students, families, and other stakeholders.
- Support instructors of under-enrolled and new programs by designing and implementing targeted marketing strategies.
3. Collaboration with Partner Schools
- Work closely with partner school counselors to ensure student academic progress aligns with technical course requirements and graduation eligibility.
- Collaborate on credit tracking and graduation planning.
- Communicate with partner schools regarding scheduling conflicts, such as pep rallies, testing, and special events, and share relevant information with FCTEC staff.
Track actual attendance data from partner schools to ensure accurate reporting.
4. IEP, 504, and Student Support Plans
- Assist instructors in interpreting and implementing IEP, 504, and health plans.
- Attend and/or provide feedback for IEP/504 meetings to support students with accommodations.
5. Schoolwide & Public Relations Efforts
- Serve as a member of the FCTEC Student Services Team, contributing to center-wide events, activities, and public relations initiatives.
- Attend FCTEC Superintendent's Program Advisory Board meetings as needed.
Provide leadership in the previewing and reviewing of student progress reports and report cards, flagging concerns for administrative action.
6. Other Duties
- Serve as a backup resource for the Career Planning Coordinator when needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.
Education
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, education, or a related field, a Master’s Degree is preferred.
Experience
- Strong understanding of CTE programs, industry credentials, and workforce demands
- Ability to support students’ social, emotional, and academic needs
- Experience in college and career planning
- Knowledge of student recruitment, admissions, and retention strategies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with partner schools, employers, and post-secondary institutions
- School Year Only plus 10 additional days. (Total 190 days)
- Monday - Friday
- 7:30am - 2:45pm
- Travel between schools required at times
Reports To: Director or their designee
Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation: Completed annually by Director or their designee.
FLSA Status: Exempt
