Career Exploration Instructor
Foster Career & Technical Education Center
Qualifications
- Relevant work experience, education, training, and industry credentials
- Career & Technical Education Certification in one of the areas directly related to programming at FCTEC
- The instructor will show evidence of a variety of experiences in the trades
- Associate’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, families, and community partners.
- Professional, cooperative, and respectful of beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others
Certifications
- Maine DOE Certification or eligibility for CTE Endorsement reflective of one of the four programs selected by the FCTEC to incorporate into the programs curriculum.
- Responsible for teaching the skills and abilities needed to succeed in a workplace and shop setting.
- Responsible for teaching students about supplies and equipment used in a variety of career settings. Additionally, provide safety training required to use supplies, tools and equipment.
- Responsible for teaching students about blending academic accomplishment with practical experience.
- Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts basedon State/National standards.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, conductprogram advisory meetings, and participating in professional organizations, coursework and conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
- Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
- Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutionalpolicies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
- Participate in school and community events.
- Adheres to IEP’s and differentiated instruction.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Director of Foster CTE Center
Experience
- Must have practical experience in the subject/trade area.
