- To work under the direction of the Location/Scale Manager in processing, sorting, grading, and baling/boxing of all materials.
- Be able to operate the scales. All scale tickets must be verified and contain correct information in regards to customer, material, weights (including gross and tare when applicable), and pictures. No manual inputs.
- Operate the forklift so as to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk material in a safe and efficient manner.
Requirements:
- Operate ferrous and non-ferrous scales to weigh inbound and outbound vehicles/materials accurately.
- Assist the Location/Scale Manager in verifying correct weights, material descriptions, grades, and compliance for all loads.
- Process and verify scale tickets — ensuring they include accurate customer info, material type, weights (gross, tare, net when applicable), and photos; no manual inputs allowed to maintain precision.
- Manage scale operations for ferrous materials (especially in shredder facilities), assist customers/truck drivers, and handle payments/transactions.
- Direct traffic and guide vehicles on/off scales.
- Perform related labor duties such as sorting, grading, processing, baling/boxing materials, or general yard support as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service, communicate effectively with drivers, staff, and management.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, environmental standards (OSHA/EPA compliant), and company policies.
- Preferred: A High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred two (2) years in scrap metal recycling environment.
- Must have the skills and ability to identify various metals. Metals must be sorted and unloaded in accordance with Company Policy. Must perform hands-on work using equipment to move the heavier metals.
- Must be able to pass a drug test & background check.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
