Class A CDL Driver – Foss Recycling
Job Summary
Foss Recycling is seeking experienced Class A CDL Drivers to join our fast-paced metal recycling team. This role requires flexibility, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety and efficiency. Drivers will primarily operate tractor-trailers and roll-off equipment and may be cross-trained on van trailer hauls.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A tractor-trailer in compliance with all federal, state, and DOT regulations.
- Haul roll-off trailers, van trailers, and other assigned loads as needed.
- Securely maneuver trucks and trailers into loading and unloading areas, following signals from loading crews.
- Ensure all loads are transported safely, securely, and delivered on time.
- Maintain accurate paperwork including bills of lading, shipping documents, and delivery records.
- Submit completed documentation to the appropriate department after each route.
- Perform basic vehicle inspections, including checking fluids, tires, and general condition before and after trips.
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to the Transportation Manager immediately.
- Use Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) to maintain accurate driving logs in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally at delivery sites.
- Ability to safely operate a tractor-trailer with partially obstructed rear visibility using mirrors effectively.
- Strong route planning and time management skills to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay on task with minimal supervision.
Education, Experience & Certifications
- Minimum of 3 years Class A CDL driving experience required.
- Valid Class A CDL license required.
- Must pass background check and drug screening per DOT requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
- Ability to lift and move up to 45 pounds.
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and climbing in and around trailers and equipment.
- Ability to walk and stand during loading and unloading operations.
- Must be able to safely climb onto trailers to inspect, secure, or adjust loads when necessary.
