What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney – In House Opportunity position at Foss Division - Diedre Moire?
Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney – In House Opportunity – Clearwater, FL
You’ve Built Your Career Defending Workers’ Compensation Claims. What’s Next?
You've spent years navigating Florida workers’ compensation litigation, developing defense strategies, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in contested hearings.
You know the law. You know the courtroom. And you know how to get results.
But have you considered taking that experience in-house?
We are recruiting a seasoned Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney for the Staff Counsel team of an established property and casualty insurance company.
This opportunity combines the litigation responsibilities you know with the opportunity to work directly within an insurance organization's legal operation.
What Makes This Opportunity Worth Exploring?
Rather than representing multiple outside clients, you'll be part of an in-house legal team working directly with claims professionals to develop litigation strategies, manage exposure, and resolve cases efficiently.
You'll have the independence to make meaningful legal decisions while collaborating with professionals who understand the insurance industry.
Your work will include:
- Taking ownership of Florida workers’ compensation defense cases from initial petitions through resolution.
- Leading depositions, mediations, contested hearings, and other litigation proceedings.
- Developing and executing defense strategies.
- Evaluating settlement opportunities and advising claims teams on litigation risks.
- Working directly with internal stakeholders to drive effective case outcomes.
The Experience That Matters
We're looking for an attorney with:
- An active Florida Bar license in good standing.
- A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- At least 5 years of workers’ compensation defense litigation experience.
- Significant first-chair hearing experience.
- Strong knowledge of Florida workers’ compensation law and OJCC proceedings.
- Excellent negotiation, litigation, and communication skills.
You Don't Have to Be Looking to Be Interested.
If you're established in your career but curious about what an in-house legal opportunity could offer, this position deserves a conversation.
Bring your experience. Keep doing meaningful litigation. Explore a different professional environment.
