Position: Operations Specialist – Intermodal
Pay Rate: $50k per year
Job Description:
Forward Air is seeking a detail-oriented Operations Specialist - Intermodal to support a growing transportation operation. This role will work cross-functionally with terminals, accounting, and operations teams to ensure accurate billing, cost reconciliation, and timely invoice processing. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of administrative, accounting, and transportation industry experience.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Review toll authority invoices and reconcile charges
Prepare owner-operator toll deductions and settlement support documentation
Submit invoices for payment and support accounts payable processes
Review and process storage bills and resolve discrepancies with terminal teams
Communicate with terminals nationwide to research and resolve toll and storage issues
Assist with chassis rental billing and cost tracking
Support training related to settlements, fuel taxes, and billing processes
Assist with rate review and billing accuracy for intermodal customers
Maintain organized records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes
Provide general administrative and operational support as needed
Qualifications:
Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, or general office administration
Transportation or trucking industry experience strongly preferred
Intermodal, freight, or logistics exposure is a plus
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Comfortable working cross-functionally with terminals and operations teams
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard office systems
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
