What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Specialist position at Forward?
Oversee complex load optimization by analyzing routes, freight data, and logistics trends to enhance profitability and service levels
Resolve escalated and complex carrier issues involving pick-up, delivery, routing, and compliance challenges
Generate detailed operational reports, including performance metrics, cost analysis, and trend insights, and present findings to senior leadership
Lead strategic rate negotiations with key carriers, implementing cost-saving strategies while maintaining service quality
Utilize advanced features within the Transportation Management System (TMS) to monitor operations, generate reports, and identify performance trends
Develop and implement process improvement strategies to streamline communication, enhance load execution, and optimize carrier management
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and leadership to align operational initiatives with company objectives and evolving market demands
Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive benchmarks to inform strategic decision-making
All other duties as assigned to meet evolving business need
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field strongly preferred; High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required
Experience in logistics, supply chain, and/or transportation operations required (internship and/or co-op experience is applicable)
Working experience in trailer pool management (i.e. organizing, tracking, maintaining, and optimizing a fleet of trailers) highly preferred
Strong problem-solving skills with a strategic and analytical approach to work
Excellent communication skills with a knack for building and leveraging relationships
Prior experience leading, coaching, and mentoring co-workers/peers preferred
Working knowledge of/experience with leading Transportation Management Systems (TMS) required; McLeod TMS expertise preferred
Proficient with common office technologies, including Windows PCs, Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and web conferencing (Teams, Zoom, Webex, etc.)
Comfort commuting to/from and working in a 100% on-site setting (listed in this posting), with travel for related meetings/events
Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality in handling and protecting sensitive information
