TRAFFIC CONTROL AND PAVEMENT MARKING LABORERS - FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES

Locations: Madison, New Berlin, Stevens Point, Cadott

Forward Traffic & Marking is a proud union contractor committed to excellence in road construction. We are always looking to connect with dedicated and skilled Laborers interested in supporting road construction projects across Wisconsin.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TRAFFIC CONTROL LABORER

As a Traffic Control Laborer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety of contractors and motorists navigating work zones across Wisconsin. You will be responsible for loading and unloading traffic control equipment and materials, which will be delivered to various job sites. This equipment includes drums, work zone signs, barricades, temporary pavement marking materials, and lights. You will also be tasked with delivering and installing Portable Changeable Message Signs (PCMS) and Arrow Boards, as well as setting up and removing lane closures, ramp closures, road closures, and other traffic control setups.

In this role, you will install and remove both permanent and temporary pavement markings, and roadside safety devices such as crash cushions. You will utilize maps and plan sheets to ensure the proper location and delivery of equipment, helping to keep work zones safe and organized. Throughout the project duration, you will perform maintenance on traffic control equipment and ensure that all work zones are properly set up and maintained. You will also be responsible for shop work, including equipment organization, assembly, repair, and minor equipment maintenance.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PAVEMENT MARKING LABORER

As a Pavement Marking Laborer, you will be essential in executing pavement marking tasks across various road construction environments. Your duties include lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading materials like pavement marking materials, signs, barricades, and barrels. You will prepare and clean work areas before and after pavement markings are applied to ensure safety and organization on the job site.

Additionally, you will assist with installing, repairing, and maintaining various pavement markings, including epoxy striping, thermoplastic, MMA, and permanent tape. You will also operate hand grinders to remove old markings and interpret engineering plans related to pavement marking procedures. Working closely with your supervisor, you'll help layout roadways for marking and ensure the proper procedures are followed for timely project completion.

In addition to these tasks, you will help maintain equipment and vehicles by cleaning and ensuring they are in good working order. You may also be required to transport materials and equipment to and from job sites as needed. Keeping accurate job logs and returning them to your supervisor daily will be essential to ensure all tasks are completed on schedule. Communication with your supervisor is key to ensuring proper project progress and adherence to company policies.
