Essential Functions
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts
- Prepare and reconcile fixed asset reports, depreciation schedules, and related accounts
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for assigned profit centers
- Develop financial analyses and management reports
- Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement, and budget variance analyses
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, annual audits, and tax return preparation
- Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and audit findings
- Support continuous improvement of accounting processes, procedures, and automation opportunities, and use resources such as Microsoft Business Central, Excel, and Power Automate to enhance reporting and workflow efficiency
- Collaborate with newspaper, broadcast, commercial print, and corporate finance teams on accounting and reporting initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Zero to two years of accounting experience preferred
- Previous internship experience in accounting or finance is a plus, regardless of industry
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, and the ability to learn new systems and technologies with ease
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Eagerness to learn and grow within an accounting and finance environment
