The Fortune Excursions After School Instructor plays a vital role in providing high-quality enrichment experiences for our TK–8th grade scholars. Instructors lead engaging, hands-on activities that reflect Fortune’s mission to close the African American achievement gap and cultivate confident, creative, and community-minded learners. Activities may include structured outdoor play, visual arts, dance, theatre, STEM projects, and other enrichment experiences designed to inspire curiosity and joy in learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate daily Excursions program activities, ensuring sessions are safe, inclusive, and engaging for all scholars.
Implement lesson plans that promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving through structured enrichment (e.g., art, performance, movement, or outdoor activities).
Support scholars’ social-emotional development using Fortune’s attention-getters, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom or activity space that reflects Fortune’s “Magical Classroom” standard.
Supervise scholars during all Excursions activities, including transitions, snack, and dismissal times, ensuring proper safety and attendance procedures.
Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, site leads, and school-day staff.
Accurately record attendance, sign-ins/outs, and program data using Procare and other assigned digital tools.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and special events as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or enrichment setting (TK–8th grade preferred).
Background or interest in visual or performing arts, dance, theatre, or structured physical activities highly desirable.
Basic technology literacy; ability to navigate apps and digital attendance systems (e.g., Procare, iPads).
Ability to stand, walk, and supervise scholars for extended periods of time.
Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
Creative, adaptable, and solutions-oriented mindset.
Commitment to Fortune’s core values of excellence, equity, and joy in education.
Must pass background check and fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI.
Work Schedule:
Part-time, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Work Environment:
Work is performed on school campuses, both indoors and outdoors, in active settings that may include art rooms, multipurpose rooms, and playground areas.
