The Engineering team works on multiple digital properties at Fortune: from the editorial website, conferences, Fortune Recommends and others. Our goal is to launch new products to build on our core competencies of content, events and education, in order to diversify our revenue streams; and to improve the experience and monetization of existing properties. Fortune Media is seeking a highly motivated and talented DevOps Engineer with a strong coding background to join our team. We believe in an "everything as code" philosophy and maintain high standards for coding quality, comparable to those expected of our software engineers. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, eager to explore new technologies, and passionate about building and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performing systems. You will play a crucial role in automating and streamlining our infrastructure and development processes, ensuring the reliable and efficient delivery of our digital products. AI-Driven Development We are aggressively embracing AI to drastically improve the productivity of our engineering team and fundamentally shift how we approach application development. You will leverage AI-powered tools like Cursor to accelerate your coding. Our goal is not just incremental improvement, but a step-change in productivity, allowing engineers to focus more on complex system design, business logic, and creative problem-solving. We expect you to be at the forefront of this AI-enabled coding revolution. Key Responsibilities: Stability of the infrastructure: Build cloud infrastructure that is stable, efficient, and scalable Infrastructure Automation: Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. CI/CD Pipelines: Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps. Cloud Technologies: Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including experience with cloud-native services (e.g., Kubernetes, serverless computing). Scripting and Automation: Proficient in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Ruby for automating tasks and managing infrastructure. Monitoring and Logging: Implement and maintain robust monitoring and logging systems to identify and resolve issues proactively. Security: Participate in security reviews and implement security best practices across the infrastructure. Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to understand their needs and provide solutions that improve their productivity and efficiency. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to infrastructure and application deployment. Stay Updated: Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and best practices within the DevOps domain. Qualifications: If you are a strong software engineer with a passion for DevOps, even without prior professional DevOps experience, you are encouraged to apply. Strong coding skills in at least one programming language Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (Jenkins, GitHub action) Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Ruby) Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Passion for automation and continuous improvement Bonus Points: Experience of Cloudflare is a huge plus. Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm) Experience with serverless computing platforms (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions) Knowledge of security best practices and tools Contributions to open-source projects We will tailor the specific level of this role (e.g., Software Engineer I, II, Senior, Lead, Principle, etc.) based on years of relevant experience, your demonstrated technical expertise, experience with large-scale system design, leadership qualities, and communication skills as assessed during the interview process. Total Compensation Ranges (base salary & bonus): SDE L1, L2: $68,000.00 - $106,000.00 plus 5%-10% discretionary annual bonus SDE L3, L4: $90,000.00 - $140,000.00 plus 10% of a discretionary annual bonus Lead SDE L5, L6: $119,000.00 - $185,000.00 plus 10-15% of a discretionary annual bonus About Fortune: At Fortune Media, our mission is to change the world by making business better. Salary : $90,000 - $140,000
