Lead Technician

Fortivo Property Services
Rockville, MD Full Time
POSTED ON 10/8/2026

About Fortivo

Fortivo Property Services is a disaster restoration and reconstruction company headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, serving homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. When a pipe bursts, a fire breaks out, or a storm hits, we are the team that shows up, stabilizes the property, and puts it back together. We are licensed in Maryland and DC and are growing our field team.

Why This Role Is Different

At many larger restoration companies, technicians can spend years on the truck with no clear next step. Fortivo is building its field team now, which means the people who join early have a real opportunity to grow with the company. This position is structured as a development track — from Restoration Technician, to Lead Technician, to Project Manager running jobs from first call through closeout — for team members who demonstrate the skill, reliability, and judgment to get there. We invest in IICRC certifications, and pay increases are tied to the certifications you earn.

What You Will Do

• Respond to water, fire, smoke, and mold losses, including after-hours emergency calls on a rotating on-call schedule

• Perform water extraction, structural drying, demolition, debris removal, content handling, and cleaning

• Set up, monitor, and remove drying equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, negative air)

• Take moisture readings, create moisture maps, and document every job with photos, logs, and daily field reports

• Set up containment and follow safety and PPE protocols, including respirator use

• Protect client property on every job: floor and surface protection, dust control, and a clean site at the end of each day

• Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, and adjusters on site

• Maintain, clean, and inventory equipment and vehicles; complete shop and materials runs

• Learn job scoping, estimating, and project coordination as you advance

What We Are Looking For

Required

• Demonstrated attention to detail in protecting client property, including floor and surface protection, dust containment, daily cleanup, and careful handling of finished materials in occupied homes and commercial spaces

• Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets our commercial auto insurance requirements

• Authorization to work in the United States

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50–75 lbs, and to work while bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and in crawlspaces, attics, and confined spaces

• Ability to work in respirators and PPE, and in hot, cold, wet, or dirty conditions

• Availability for overtime, weekends, and a rotating on-call schedule

• Reliability, a strong work ethic, and respect for clients' homes and property

• Smartphone comfort for photos, documentation, and job apps

Preferred

• IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, FSRT, AMRT, or OCT)

• 1 years of experience in water mitigation, fire restoration, mold remediation, or construction

• Experience with moisture meters, thermal imaging, and drying equipment

• Familiarity with restoration software (e.g., Xactimate, DocuSketch, Encircle, or similar)

  • • Interest in growing into a lead or project management role

Pay and Benefits

• Hourly pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour, depending on experience and certifications

• Overtime at 1.5x for hours over 40 per week (overtime is common in this industry)

• Company-paid IICRC certification courses and exams, with hourly pay increases for qualifying certifications

• Documented performance reviews and a defined path toward Lead Technician and Project Manager

• Earned sick and safe leave in accordance with Maryland law

• Eligibility for discretionary performance bonuses
