What are the responsibilities and job description for the Actuarial Associate, Inforce Management position at Fortitude Re?
The Actuarial Associate, Inforce Management candidate will be a key member of the Fortitude Life Inforce Management team, which serves the company by supporting recurring reinsurance settlement activity and management/financial reporting on reinsured businesses. This position will report to the AVP, Life Inforce Reinsurance Actuary. Responsibilities include data analysis and reporting on deferred and payout annuity products, and support of our internal controls, policies, and governance.
The position is located in the Fortitude Re Nashville, TN office on a hybrid schedule with minimal travel expected (0%-15%).
What You Will Do:
- Provide analysis for recurring reinsurance settlement statements and financial reporting.
- Execute within a control framework around the reinsurance settlement statement review process for newly acquired blocks of business.
- Develop, report, and provide analysis for key performance indicators across the Fortitude Re product portfolio and communicate results to key stakeholders.
- Implement process improvement and automation through use of data integration, analytics, and visualizations.
- Execute on various ad hoc projects and key initiatives.
- Collaborate across actuarial, finance, and data teams.
What You Will Have:

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field, and:a minimum of 4 SOA exams or 4 IFoA exams or 3 CAS exams; and show a record of passing exams after hire. Progress toward actuarial credentials (SOA/CAS/IFOA exams) is mandatory.

Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in insurance, actuarial analysis or related fields.
- Experience in financial reporting, ideally including annuity products.
- Experience with data analytics on large data sets.
- High degree of proficiency in working with data and calculations in MS Excel and database environments; programming languages are a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to adopt a creative approach to solving complex problems.
- Ability to manage multiple work assignments and meet time commitments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills across in-person and audio/video call environments, email and Teams platforms, and actuarial memoranda using MS Word.
- Undergraduate degree is required, preferably in actuarial science or a related field.
- The base salary range for this role is listed below and will be commensurate with candidate experience and actuarial exams passed.
