COMPANY OVERVIEW: Forte Products – a Plastics & Fiberglass manufacturer, is unique in the industry because we offer multiple molding processes out of four separate manufacturing plants. Forte Products offers a range of plastic manufacturing processes – rotational molding, vacuum forming and injection. We also offer substantial expertise in fiberglass manufacturing. We serve a wide range of industries such as, Commercial Airlines, Agriculture, Marine, Department of Defense, Lawn and Garden, Waste Services, Petroleum/C-Store and RV. We are family oriented, flexible, energetic, and driven. The Machine Operator works out of the Burlington, KS facility.

Position Summary

The Process Technician will perform the following key functions: mold start-ups, mold troubleshooting, robot troubleshooting, training, continuous improvement projects, work on projects instructed by the Engineer to improve operating efficiencies and implement standardized work for all operational departments.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working on continuous improvement projects assigned by the Engineer
  • Ensuring that machines are running the desired cycle times as shown on the process sheet and tracking system
  • Preparing process setup sheets; creating standardized processes to follow
  • Ensuring molding standards that are implemented are followed
  • Providing input for solutions to prevent recurrence of on non-conforming product issues
  • Starting up new molds for first-time production runs using the process sheet generated by Engineering and collaborating with Engineering when necessary
  • Troubleshooting problem molds and auxiliary equipment to reduce machine downtime and meet production needs
  • Maintaining robot programs and robot tooling to ensure all robots are being utilized to their fullest potential
  • Ensuring that equipment receives normal maintenance to minimize downtime and improve performance
  • Assisting setup personnel with difficult setups and resolving specific setup problems to ensure adherence to production schedules
  • Providing training to as needed
  • Recommending changes and notifications to equipment to improve efficiency and control costs
  • Following work instructions for molding and assembly operations
  • Providing relief coverage for absences of Production Supervisors

Skills and Abilities

  • High degree of skill in the operation and maintenance of injection molding equipment.
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Possess strong attention to detail.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 5 or more years of direct experience in injection molding and related operations or combination of education and experience
  • Solid background in injection molding and robot programming (including 3-axis and 6-axis)
  • Knowledge of basic tooling
  • Comprehensive knowledge of equipment and processes used by the company
