The Load Planner is responsible for coordinating and planning daily and weekly freight loads to ensure efficient, cost effective and timely transportation of goods. This role works closely with carriers, and internal departments to optimize load configurations and maximize transportation efficiency while meeting internal and external customer service expectations.

The Load Planner is responsible for coordinating and planning daily and weekly freight loads to ensure efficient, cost effective and timely transportation of goods. This role works closely with carriers, and internal departments to optimize load configurations and maximize transportation efficiency while meeting internal and external customer service expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate outbound freight loads, ensuring efficient truck utilization and alignment with production schedules while taking into consideration weight restrictions, cubing capacities, special customer requests and geographic locations
- Optimize load builds and routing to reduce cost and meet delivery targets
- Identifies and coordinates LTL (less than truck load) shipments
- Reschedules back ordered products for delivery
- Act as a liaison between freight carriers and Forte Opening Solutions and between the mill and sales personnel
- Invoicing shipments, closes job in progress and processes through Oracle
- Work cross functionally with Operations and Customer Service to ensure on time pickups and deliveries
- Maintain records on carrier performance and transportation metrics
- Analyze freight data to identify trends, gaps and opportunities for improvement
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to support transportation related projects or KPIs
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Associates degree in a Business, or related field; plus 1 – 3 years of related work experience, transportation planning, logistics coordination, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and adapt in a dynamic production environment
- Problem solving mindset with strong attention to detail and the ability to solve problems creatively
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills
