Location: Teaching & Learning Center, Fort Worth ISD

Salary Range: $101,054 – $121,751

Duty Days: 239 | Full-Time | Exempt


About the Role

FWISD is seeking a Director of Dyslexia Services to provide strategic leadership for the district’s Dyslexia program. This role drives alignment with our Strategic Plan, ensuring all campuses deliver high-quality dyslexia instruction, intervention, and support.

The Director will:

  1. Oversee the districtwide Dyslexia Services model and ensure compliance with Texas Dyslexia Handbook (2024) and federal law.
  2. Support literacy directors, principals, and teachers with research-based instructional tools and training.
  3. Lead professional development for Providers of Dyslexia Instruction (PDIs) and assessors.
  4. Monitor program outcomes, analyze data, and adjust strategies for student growth.
  5. Build family and community understanding of dyslexia and FWISD services.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Direct, implement, and evaluate dyslexia instruction and referral/assessment processes.
  2. Guide curriculum, assessment, and materials adoption aligned to best practices.
  3. Lead training and professional learning across the district.
  4. Supervise and support PDIs, including staffing decisions.
  5. Collaborate with district and campus leaders to close literacy gaps for students.


Required Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree (required); coursework in supervision, reading, or special education preferred.
  2. Eligible for valid Texas Teaching Certification (must be attained within six months).
  3. 5 years’ experience including:
  4. 3 years’ successful ELA/Reading or core content teaching.
  5. 2 years’ campus or central office leadership (coach, dean, AP, principal, coordinator, etc.).
  6. Preferred: CALT certification, special education or reading certification, experience in urban/diverse school systems.
