osition Title: Substitute Teacher – Long Term

Position Category: Temporary/full-time
Position Summary: The role of the Long Term Substitute Teacher is to maintain classroom discipline and to carry on classroom procedures as if he/she were the regular teacher. The Substitute Teacher will work in the absence of the regular teacher, aiding students in their daily tasks and helping to ensure their understanding of the subject matter being covered. FWAFA substitute teachers follow the regular teacher’s lesson plans, providing students with appropriate educational activities and experiences. He/she has the same responsibilities and the same duties as the regular teacher, including but not limited to drop-off and pick-up duty. He/she is responsible for providing the highest quality classroom instruction in Resource ELA In collaboration with other faculty and administration, the Long Term Substitute Teacher will support the School’s mission through curriculum development and instruction in alignment with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the National Core Art Standards.
Job Scope: This position has no direct supervisory authority
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide daily instruction for Resource ELA
- Deliver effective lesson plans that promote the highest levels of academic scholarship, problem solving, and creative expression
- Endeavor to create a learning environment that integrates students’ artistic abilities with their academic studies
- Evaluate and provide feedback on student progress during instruction
- Assess student accomplishments on a regular basis
- Demonstrate a high level of flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes
- Collaborate with other faculty to create curriculum, develop student relationships and prepare students for further training in academic/artistic settings
- Create and maintain positive communication with administration, staff, faculty, students, and parents
- Supervise and manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook
- Compile and accurately maintain reports, records, and other documentation required
- Perform other duties as required

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
- Concentration in French
- Experience teaching high school French preferred
- Arts background preferred
