What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Specialist position at Fort Wayne Metals?

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalency required.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in material handling, shipping, receiving, or cargo delivery preferred.
- Have a valid Chauffer's license or CDL with safe driving history.
- Must be DOT trained and certified.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Thorough understanding of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.
- Knowledgeable of DOT requirements for properly securing materials and transferring hazardous products between FWM facilities.
- Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Dynamics AX, preferred.
LICENSING:
- A valid Chauffer’s license or CDL with safe driving history, required.
- Must be DOT trained and certified.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain through training, authorization to transport hazardous materials.
- Must obtain a forklift operator’s license and be certified on the WAV stand up order picker.
SKILLS:
- Ability to perform basic computer functions.
- Possess intermediate math, reading, and writing skills.
- Must be able to work without close supervision and be capable of self-checking completed work.
- Must be able to adjust daily routine depending on the needs of the warehouse in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good hand dexterity, preferred.
- Understand and apply safe work practices.
- Must understand how to properly load and balance the truck.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Fast-paced production environment.
- Work hours consist of 40 hours per week.
- Overtime may sometimes be required.
- May work with and around hazardous chemicals.
- Appropriate PPE must be worn where posted and required.
- Exposure to fluctuating temperatures may occur.
