he main responsibility of an Assembler is to produce high quality products that meet the customers’ requirements in accordance with Fort Wayne Metals mission and certifications. HHS material is cut to length using various types of equipment. HHS material is welded with Laser equipment. Ensure efficient operation of all equipment in order to produce high quality products that meet the specifications and quality required by Fort Wayne Metals and our customers.

This opening is for 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday 4:10pm-12:10am It is likely you will be asked to train on 1st shift, which is 7:50am-4:20pm.
Starting pay is $20.51/hour. This position is eligible for Shift Premium pay.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assemble components by following detailed work instructions, assembly drawings, and procedures. The assembly may include the use of fixtures, presses, and other similar equipment.
- Perform quality control checks on the processed materials and provide legible documentation.
- Create setups and adjustments holding tolerances to specifications.
- Follow all procedures for traceability, line clearance, process control, safety, and housekeeping.
- Ability to cross train within the Assembly Department to learn various skills and equipment.
- Communicate progress of projects to the Department Team Lead or appropriate personnel.
- Use microscope and magnification to perform assembly procedures/inspections.
- Understand the operating features of the equipment used in the departments within ABG.
- Package completed jobs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Experience:
- 1 year of experience in a production or assembly environment is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Fast-paced production environment.
- Work hours consist of 40 hours per week.
- Overtime may sometimes be required.
- May work with and around hazardous chemicals.
- Appropriate PPE must be worn where posted and required.
- Exposure to fluctuating temperatures may occur.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Average weights in production range from 10-30 lbs.
- May be required to perform work above shoulder height.
- Frequent bending, twisting, lifting, and squatting.
- Must be able to access all areas of operation.
- Standing/walking OR sitting most of the shift, depending on the job.
