Administrator - Year Round Schedule

 

PURPOSE


Plan, organize, control and direct educational operations, activities and services at an assigned elementary school including curriculum, and instructional programs, processes and procedures; coordinate and direct personnel, communications, discipline functions, welfare and guidance services, testing and evaluation, fiscal functions and information to enhance student learning and achievement and assure smooth and efficient school activities; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

Work Schedule: Year Around
Work Hours: Monday – Friday minimum 8 hours daily determined by supervisor. Hours will vary based on district needs and exempt status


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


• Bachelor's degree and graduate courses needed to meet educational licensing requirements.
• Five years teaching experience including one year in administrative capacity.
• Must have strong planning, administrative, supervisory, analytical, computer, organizational, accountability, and oral and      written communications skills.
• Must possess knowledge of the comprehensive organization, operations, policies and objectives of assigned school.
• Must possess advanced knowledge of curriculum standards and requirements, and the specialized aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures and terminology related to elementary school curricular models.
• Must possess a valid Administrative Services Credential and Indiana driver’s license.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


1. Plan, organize, control and direct educational operations, activities and services at an assigned elementary school including curriculum, and instructional programs, processes and procedures; establish and maintain school time lines and priorities; assure related activities comply with established standards, requirements, laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.


2. Coordinate and direct personnel, communications, discipline functions, welfare and guidance services, testing and evaluation, fiscal functions and information to enhance student learning and achievement and assure smooth and efficient school activities; provide educational leadership in and oversee the development and implementation of school programs, services, schedules, goals, objectives, plans, strategies, standards, projects, processes and procedures.


3. Provide instructional leadership for the school; assure proper implementation of District curricular models; plan, organize, control and direct educational functions including practices, instructional material guidelines and requirements, curriculum and instructional strategies; direct and participate in the development and implementation of curriculum standards; monitor instructional activities to assure alignment with curriculum requirements; oversee and participate in the review, analysis and adjustment of instructional activities in response to student achievement data.


4. Maintain current knowledge of educational methods, practices and standards related to school operations and related laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures; modify programs and services to assure compliance with standards and requirements as needed; supervise and provide professional development activities to assure compliance with District curricular models.


5. Analyze and review budgetary and financial data for the school; authorize expenditures in accordance with established standards and regulations.


6. Plan, organize, control and direct student discipline functions at assigned school site; administer, supervise and authorize student supervision, expulsions and manifestation determinations; direct and participate in the review, analysis and implementation of student management plans in response to student discipline data; assist faculty and staff with interpreting student discipline data and developing and implementing classroom management strategies.


7. Coordinate and direct communications to maintain a positive school image; develop and implement communication strategies to enhance awareness of school successes among faculty, students, parents, community agencies and the media; collaborate with Public Affairs in communicating school successes; investigate and assure proper and timely resolution of student, staff, administrative, parent, faculty and public conflicts and complaints.


8. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions; coordinate subordinate work assignments and review work to assure compliance with established requirements.


9. Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.

To perform the essential functions of this job effectively and safely, employees must meet the following physical qualifications:


Communication Skills: Ability to speak clearly and hear effectively in various environments.
Manual Dexterity: Adeptness in the use of hands and fingers.
Postural Endurance: Sit or stand for prolonged periods, as the job requires.
Flexibility: Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, or crouch to perform specific duties.
Visual Acuity: Close vision ability with the capacity to adjust focus.
Mobility: Freedom to sit or walk at will throughout the work environment.
Strength and Stamina: Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to twenty-five (25) pounds or more.
Outdoor Work: Tolerance of work outside in various weather conditions.
