Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person and via phone)
- Display a professional attitude, greet patients with a smile
- Anticipate Physician needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic
- Practice urgency at all times with the patients time, as well as doctor's time and schedule
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA
- Collect detailed medical history and documenting symptoms
- Prepare examination rooms following aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and infection control
- Conduct preliminary eye tests and assessments under the supervision of ophthalmologists or optometrists
- Educate patients on procedures, treatments, and post-care instructions in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage medical records accurately within EMR systems
- Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling patient inquiries
- Documentation to ensure compliance with healthcare standards
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment adhering to safety protocols
Skills
- Strong knowledge of patient care procedures specific to ophthalmology
- Proficiency in HIPAA compliance and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Experience with intake processes and clinical documentation
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to prevent infection during examinations or procedures
- Ability to grow, adapt and accept change
- Consistently creates a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused
- Knowledge of ophthalmology practices, anatomy, and medical terminology
- Experience working with EMR systems
