A Day in the Life of an Operations Analyst
In this role, you’ll focus on the day-to-day oversight of CLO and alternative credit operations, performing detailed reconciliations of cash flows, calculations, and reporting to ensure accuracy and quickly resolve discrepancies. You’ll review and process financial documentation across instruments like CLOs, syndicated bank loans, and other alternative assets, applying strong analytical thinking and advanced Excel skills to build, audit, and troubleshoot complex models. You’ll operate with a high level of independence, managing priorities and deadlines while serving as a key point of contact for external partners, including trustees and vendors. Familiarity with systems like Bloomberg, PAM, Wall Street Office, or similar platforms will help you ramp quickly in this environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operational processes, including settlements, derivatives, and cash activity, with a strong focus on reconciling CLO cash flows, calculations, and reporting to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Handle financial documentation and processing for complex instruments such as CLOs, bank loans, derivatives, and other alternative investments, ensuring data integrity and proper execution.
- Act as a primary liaison with internal teams (e.g., Treasury, Accounting, Portfolio Managers) and external partners (trustees, vendors), ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of issues.
- Maintain adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., Dodd-Frank) and support audit-related activities through accurate reporting, documentation, and process controls.
Qualification Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or commensurate work experience
- Proven understanding and experience of the financial services industry.
- Proven experience working with complex programs that require identifying complex data and analyzing the quality of the output provided.
- Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively build relationships inside and outside of the organization (e.g., Clients, CIO, CEO, and Portfolio Managers).
- Advanced Excel skills required; must be able to build, audit, and troubleshoot complex calculations independently.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, PAM, Wall Street Office, eFront, or trustee/GP portals is a plus.
