What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute - Library Worker position at Fort Vancouver Regional Library Business Office?
This is a great opportunity for people who have a passion for working with the public and want to make a positive impact in their communities. A typical day for a Public Services Assistant includes:
- Assisting customers with questions about library services and technology
- Creating or updating customer accounts
- Shelving materials
- Checking materials in and out
- May go out on bookmobile runs
The ideal candidate will be flexible and have strong customer service skills and great attention to detail. This position frequently requires these physical abilities:
Lift up to 35 pounds
- Push and pull book carts and book return bins on wheels
- Bend, kneel, and reach to shelve books
Stand for extended periods of time

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Six months of working with the public in a customer service setting (such as working in a retail store)
Pay and Benefits
Substitute employees receive one hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked.
