ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

All of the following are to beperformed while adhering to Utility Commission operational policies, safetyrules, and procedures.

TV Sewer:

  • Utilize TV to detect infiltration, locate taps, and inspect conditions of lines.
  • Record information on DVD, hard drive, and hard copy for later reference.

Main Line Taps:

  • Install saddle and tap main line.
  • Measure and map location of tap.

Locate Requests:

  • Perform locate requests as required by CALL BEFORE YOU DIG.

Record Keeping:

  • Document and record sewer backups in a log book.
  • Report patterns of trouble spots.
  • File information for access to history.
  • Update maps of main lines yearly.

Miscellaneous:

  • Operate equipment in the installation of underground utilities.
  • Provide assistance to other wastewater or water personnel as needed.
  • Maintain public relations; assure public and worker safety during maintenance and construction activities.
  • Attend weekly safety meetings.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • May perform duties of similar complexity in any department as required or assigned.

QUALIFACATIONS

Technical

  • Must provide a valid Georgia drivers license.
  • Must possess or obtain a commercial driver license (CDL) to operate appropriate vehicles and equipment.
  • Must have high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must be trained in confined space procedures.
  • Must obtain DOT Flagger Certification.
  • Must have the ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and the general public.
  • Must have own transportation to and from work.
  • Must have hepatitis series shots. (3- shot series)

The employee frequently is required toreach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to smell.

The physical requirements of thejob require the ability to lift 50 pounds and on those occasions where liftingrequirements may be higher, employee is required to notify supervisor of theneed for assistance.

Specific vision abilities requiredby the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheralvision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristicsdescribed here are representative of those an employee encounters whileperforming the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, theemployee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequentlyworks near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and / orhumid conditions, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, pathogenicsubstances, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee occasionally works inprecarious places and is exposed to extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, andvibration. The employee may work in confined spaces. The noise level in thework environment is usually very loud.

Tools and Equipment Used

Motor vehicles, water truck, dumptrucks, bobcat, front-end loader/backhoe, light / heavy duty service trucks,weed-eaters, lawnmowers, tap/cut off saws, pipe locators, TV equipment, vacuumtruck, brooms, shovels, pumps, generators, common hand tools and power tools,wrenches, detection devices, radios, and any equipment related to thewastewater field to accomplish the job required. This includes loading andtransporting equipment to job site using truck and trailer as required.
