Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Lead Custodian
FLSA: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal, Facility Manager, Compliance Officer, Supervisor of Maintenance
BEGINNING: July 1, 2026
LOCATION: District Wide
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 Day employment with benefits as specified in employee contract. Salary will be pro-rated for the year based on your start date.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally.
- Ability to push/pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently.
- Ability to perform physical labor in hot and cold outdoor environments.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills including email.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervise, lead, and support the custodians working at the school. This includes the assigning of work areas.
- Supervise and lead the cleaning of all facilities located on campus.
- Supervise and maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials as required.
- Instruct custodial personnel in their duties and model proper cleaning methods and techniques
- Be responsible for the operation of boilers.
- Meet daily with all custodial personnel to discuss work assignments and make reports of absences.
- Perform all minor repair or maintenance of building, grounds and equipment (i.e., electrical receptacles, light bulbs, flush valves, vacuums, lawn equipment etc.)
- Inspect and clean roof area drains at least once each week.
- Inspect and clean all yard drains and grates at least once a month.
- Unstop drains.
- Maintain lawns, shrubbery and all grounds.
- Consult Facilities staff/personnel on repairs that are of a questionable or major nature.
- Assist Facilities staff/personnel in working on major repairs.
- Complete work request using School Dude.
- Communicates clearly with all members of the custodial department.
- Be available for occasional overtime of non-work-day emergencies.
- Consult Custodial Foreman with managing overtime
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Must be able to work independently, sometimes with minimal supervision.
- Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and district administration.
- Maintain a professional relationship with students, faculty, administration and community patrons.
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
