Licensed social worker position for our alternative programing, housed at Lewis & Clark Academy, working with students in all grades in our alternate programs. Duties in this role will include case management and counseling, as well as partnerships and plans with parents, students and staff to foster healthy relationships and meet individual goals. Lewis and Clark Academy serves a diverse population and staff must demonstrate a high level of empathy, sensistivity and work well under pressure.

This position receives district retirement contributions and is eligible for district paid health insurance.  This is a 5-day, 7.5 hour position, scheduled on a 189 work calendar, with 6 paid holidays.  Position begins August 2026. Starting pay is $33.05/hour, but previous social work experience (in schools or other related fields) will increase placement on the salary schedule. Applicants with a clinical license will receive an additional stipend amount.

Masters Degree in Social Work required with a current license in the state of Missouri. Experience in the field or working with at-risk populations preferred.

This position reports to the building principal(s).

Purpose

The job of Social Worker is done for the purpose/s of providing services to children and families; ensuring operation in compliance with local, state and/or federal requirements; providing information on services available to eligible students and families and conveying information regarding school and/or district activities, procedures and referring families to other agencies.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses student and family needs (e.g. financial, medical, parenting skills, transportation, etc.) for the purpose of developing and implementing individualized plans of services to support educational objectives.
  • Coordinates trainings for parents and/or students (e.g. parenting skills, community resources, district programs, social skill development, etc.) for the purpose of assisting parents in maintaining a positive home environment, building relationships between family and district and supporting child's educational program.
  • Coordinates activities with a variety of outside services agencies, school sites, etc. (e.g. mental health, probation, medical, etc.) for the purpose of providing referrals for families and/or students.
  • Maintains confidential and non confidential case records (e.g. manuals, electronic files, records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and complying with local, state and federal
  • Mediates conflicts between parents, teachers and/or students for the purpose of resolving issues that could impede student's educational success.
  • Monitors student attendance, transportation, and other indicators of potential student problems (e.g. lack of sufficient food, shelter, clothes, mental health, etc.) for the purpose of identifying the need of family support so that community resources may be referred.
  • Participates in meetings internal and external to the district (e.g. IEPs, Professional Development,
  • Homeless Coordination Committee, Ministerial Alliance, home visits, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions, meet the needs of the students, and reduce potential barries for homeless children and youth.
  • Provides a wide variety of services (e.g. one-on-one and group sessions, crisis interventions, etc.) for the purpose of helping students deal with difficult situations interfering with their learning.
  • Responds to requests for intervention in situations that could negatively impact the student's education plan for the purpose of addressing needs of the student.
  • Responds to all inquiries (e.g. administration, staff, students, parents, etc.) for the purpose of providing information on district support services and/or educational programs.
  • Serves as a connection between the school district and student families for the purpose of providing a caring service that results in a successful student and a better family environment.

Other Functions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

   Responsibility

   Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing

   other persons within a small work unit; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to effect the organization's services.

Work Environment

   The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional

   lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling,  significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine

   finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.  The job is performed in a

   generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere.
