We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Digital Press Operator to join our production team. This hands-on role is responsible for running our full suite of digital printing equipment—both sheetfed and continuous-feed—including Canon, and other high-volume digital presses.
Summary
The Digital Press Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and quality control of digital presses across multiple platforms. This includes loading jobs, adjusting for media types and color consistency, performing in-run checks, and ensuring output matches job specs. The ideal candidate has experience in a high-volume print environment, is mechanically inclined, and takes pride in producing clean, accurate work under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of digital print equipment including sheetfed and continuous-feed systems (e.g., Canon, and similar platforms)
- Review job tickets and load files, confirming specifications such as media, quantity, duplexing, and finishing requirements
- Set up digital presses for each job, including media loading, calibration, and color management
- Monitor output during production to ensure print quality, consistency, and proper registration
- Perform in-run and final quality checks to verify image quality, color accuracy, and completeness
- Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and calibration to minimize downtime and maximize output
- Report mechanical or quality issues to supervisors or maintenance personnel promptly
- Coordinate with Prepress, Finishing, and Client Services to meet production deadlines and customer expectations
- Maintain accurate job logs and follow all safety and production protocols
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating digital printing equipment in a production environment
- Familiarity with Ricoh, Canon, or other commercial-grade digital press systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot on the fly
- Understanding of digital print workflows, RIPs, file formats, and variable data applications
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to interpret job tickets and production documentation
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
