Tax Associate – CPA Firm (In-Person)

Position Summary
The Tax Associate will prepare individual and business tax returns, assist with tax planning, communicate with clients, and support senior staff with a variety of tax and accounting projects. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines during tax season and throughout the year.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 3 years of recent public accounting experience in a CPA firm preparing tax returns.
- Experience preparing individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, trust, and/or nonprofit tax returns.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to excellent client service.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software.
Preferred:
Experience with QuickBooks and bookkeeping.
- Experience reviewing tax returns and researching tax issues.
Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and state individual and business tax returns.
- Review client information for completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate with clients regarding missing information and tax questions.
- Perform tax research as needed.
- Prepare tax projections and assist with tax planning.
- Assist with IRS and state tax notices and correspondence.
- Maintain organized electronic workpapers and client files.
- Work closely with partners and other team members to meet filing deadlines.
- Identify opportunities to improve client tax positions and internal processes.
- Assist with bookkeeping and accounting projects when needed.
