Senior Staff Accountant / Future CPA Firm Partner

Great Oak CPA is seeking an experienced public accountant who is looking for more than just a job. We are searching for a professional with at least three years of recent public accounting experience who wants to become an integral part of our growing firm.

The owner plans to retire within 5 to 7 years, creating an exceptional opportunity for the right individual to grow into a leadership role and potentially assume ownership of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns
  • Perform tax planning and research
  • Prepare financial statements and related workpapers
  • Review bookkeeping and accounting records
  • Assist clients with QuickBooks questions and troubleshooting
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding tax and accounting matters
  • Respond to IRS and state notices
  • Help improve firm processes and workflow
  • Mentor junior staff as the firm grows
  • Develop lasting relationships with clients and become a trusted advisor

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience working in a public accounting firm
  • CPA license preferred or actively pursuing licensure
  • Strong knowledge of federal income tax preparation for individuals and businesses
  • Experience preparing financial statements
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines during tax season
  • Professional, ethical, and client-service oriented
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently
  • Preferred Experience
  • Tax planning
  • Payroll and sales tax
  • IRS representation and notice resolution
  • Practice management software experience (Canopy or similar)
  • Experience advising small business clients
