Job Title: High School Athletic Trainer

Job Summary
The High School Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes. This position supports all athletic programs at Fort Morgan High School and collaborates with coaches, school staff, and healthcare providers to ensure the health and safety of students. The role also includes coordination and support for middle school athletic programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Athletic Training & Injury Care
- Provide on-site athletic training services for practices, games, and school-sponsored athletic events.
- Evaluate athletic injuries and develop treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Provide first aid and emergency care for injured student-athletes.
- Make return-to-play decisions in accordance with medical best practices and school policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all student-athletes.
- Communicate injury status and care plans with coaches, parents, and healthcare providers.
Injury Prevention
- Design and implement injury prevention programs and conditioning strategies.
- Educate student-athletes on proper techniques, hydration, nutrition, and injury prevention.
- Ensure proper fitting and safe use of athletic equipment.
Program Support & Coordination
- Work closely with the Athletic Director and coaching staff to support all athletic programs.
- Attend required meetings, including athletic department and safety meetings.
- Assist in developing and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures.
Middle School Support
- Check in with middle school coaches to assess athlete health needs and provide guidance.
- Serve as a resource for injury prevention and basic care at the middle school level.
- Ensure consistency in safety standards and practices between middle school and high school athletics.
Medical Supplies & Equipment Management
- Maintain inventory and stock medical kits for all high school athletic teams.
- Stock and distribute medical kits for middle school athletic programs.
- Ensure all medical equipment is clean, functional, and readily available.
- Manage ordering of supplies and maintain budget awareness.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and professional standards.
- Maintain certifications and licensure required for athletic training.
- Keep detailed documentation of injuries, treatments, and incidents.
Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency action plans for athletic events.
- Coordinate with local emergency services when necessary.
- Ensure all coaches are familiar with emergency procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- State licensure (if required).
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a high school setting.
- Experience coordinating with middle school or youth athletic programs.
Working Conditions
- Requires evening and weekend hours to cover practices and games.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physically able to respond quickly to emergencies and assist injured athletes.

Salary : $50,000 - $66,200
