Transportation Dispatcher

Reports to: Transportation Supervisor

Purpose: Provides responsible and professional radio monitoring, dispatch communication and phone communication. Also provides support to supervisors and transportation staff. Exercises independent judgment in supporting district transportation routing programs and assistance in preparing district and State Department of Education (SDOE) reports, handling special projects and concerns, etc.

Terms of Employment: 240-contract days per year, 8 hours per day, Exempt Level Position

Job Responsibilities

• Analyzes available resources against immediate requirements for drivers and/or buses within the fleet to meet ongoing demand for providing transportation services to students and schools. Assigns staff and makes adjustments to bus routes to ensure on-time bus
• Effectively communicates both orally and in writing. Communication is clear and concise between the hub, schools, and the school bus drivers. Maintains a calm and professional demeanor even during stressful
• Must be detail-oriented and accurate to ensure that messages are received and understood in an often busy and stressful
• Maintains various spreadsheets and/or databases related to transportation personnel.
• Assists supervisors with various records and reports as needed by the Utilizes various software programs.
• Assists with data entry of student database information that enables routes and student transport for both the regular school year and summer
• Ability to analyze varied functions, processes, and tasks for the preparation of varied complex records and
• Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and confidentiality in exercising duties.
• Ability to anticipate work to be completed and initiate proper and acceptable direction for the completion of work with little to no supervision and instruction.
• Ability to work independently on confidential assignments and administrative tasks.
• Proficient experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required. Associate’s Degree in related field
• CDL with P&S endorsements
• Knowledge of Fort Mill and surrounding
• Experience with computer software programs preferred including spreadsheet and communication
• Minimum of five years of responsible Transportation experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and
• Self-directed with the ability to work under minimum supervision with the confidence to make decisions independently when warranted. Confidentially is critical and expected in this role.
• Professional presence and demeanor, with the ability to comfortably work with all levels of district personnel as well as diverse groups and individuals within the community.
  
  

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of non-certified personnel.
