Position: Part-Time Student Support Specialist – Fort Mill Site
Hours: 20 hours/week
Monday - Thursday 8:30am – 1:30pm; some Fridays required for training
August - May
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, required
- Global Career Development Facilitator, or willing to obtain
- SC Teaching Certificate, preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to multi-task efficiently and effectively
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of computer technology and standard office equipment
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proficient in using Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective cooperative relationships with all staff members, students, and others contacted in the course of work
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information
- Ability to motivate adult learners 17 and older
Essential Job Functions:
Test Administration:
- Complete required training for test administration.
- Conduct intake and orientation sessions for new students.
- Administer testing and review test scores with adult learners.
- Assist the director in opening and operating a new GED Testing center at the Fort Mill site.
College and Career Navigator Services:
- Meet with students to work on college and career-related activities, including helping students with resumes, college applications, and job applications.
- Work with the Clover/York CCN to coordinate presenters to speak with students, such as York Tech admissions representatives or military recruiters.
- Follow-up with graduates.
Instruction:
- Cover classes if the instructor is absent.
- Tutor face-to-face and online students in Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies as needed.
