80 hours per bi-weekly pay period

The Medical Laboratory Assistant - Clinic collects blood specimens from patients and performs other lab duties under the direction of the physician or mid-level provider.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Collects specimens from patients of all ages using various collection devices. Performs venipuncture.
- Monitors orders and collection lists assuring timely collection.
- Performs waived testing procedures, culture set up and assists in specimen processing.
- Organizes, restocks, and cleans outpatient drawing area and all carts, trays and hand helds.
- Assists with rooming patients and collecting data as appropriate.
- Screens phone calls, collects all pertinent data, communicates this information to the provider.
- Always maintains equipment in a clean and safe condition.
- Monitors and maintains lab refrigerator temperatures.
- Orders lab supplies and other supplies as requested.
- Performs EKGs as needed.
Requirements of this position include:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Must productively interact with patients and staff to perform laboratory work and report on results. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Cognitive process to interpret office situations and respond appropriately; adaptable to change; able to cope with stress and criticism.
- BLS Certification; ASCP certification preferred
