Essential Functions
- Utilizes research based strategies to address unfinished learning.
- Plan and deliver daily lessons aligned to state and district standards that meet students' needs to ensure growth.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet student learner differences.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects.
- Establish and communicate clear standards of student behavior to ensure a safe, welcoming and effective learning environment.
- Monitor student learning on a daily basis to identify areas of growth and need.
- Build positive relationships with students and engage their families to ensure support for student growth and learning.
- Assess student learning by using data and student feedback to inform instructional practices.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by district policy, administrative regulations and state law.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with the eight Iowa Teaching Standards.
- Participate in required staff professional development and meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in teaching field.
- Iowa teaching license with appropriate endorsement for subject area.
- Interpersonal skills that exhibit friendliness, tact, patience and courtesy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
- Knowledge of classroom technologies or willingness to acquire the required knowledge.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the daily requirements of the position.
- Competency working in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment or the willingness or acquire these skills.

- Teachers will not be eligible for future sign-on bonuses if rehired within 3 years of separation. A teacher will not be eligible for a sign-on bonus if a prior bonus has been offered and accepted. If a teacher is terminated before a full year of employment or abandons their contract they will be required to repay the sign-on bonus at time of separation.
