Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting & Budget
- Reconcile customer accounts on a consistent basis to ensure the departmental revenue is accurately reported
- Monitor student accounts to ensure accuracy and that enrollment coincides with receipt of payment
- Direct the day to day activities of subordinate financial team members, including providing training and guidance and manage workload during employee absences, taking on additional responsibilities to provide coverage when required
- Provide the necessary accounting support and data analysis for all special tasks assigned by the Director of Extended Learning
- May assign work to and oversee support staff assisting with financial processes
- Assist with the revision, implementation and execution of the financial assistance process
- Assist with individual site program audits
- Reconcile bank statements and discrepancies with deposits and the student financial management systems
- Prepare reports relating to enrollment, revenue, budget, projections, etc.
- Communicate with customers and staff regarding payments, financial assistance and online registration/payments
- Work in collaboration with Director of Extended Learning to develop and implement processes for department accounting procedures, including, but not limited to, billing, collection of tuition and fees and registration
- Communicate regularly with staff, parents, and children, members of the public, school administrators and district staff to foster a team approach
- Actively market the department’s programs to recruit and retain potential customers and staff
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing and hiring staff members
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff
- Resolve staff problems and administer staff progressive discipline

- Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory and management experience
- Ability to make independent decisions, complete job assignments within strict deadlines and possess strong organizational skills
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and in database management and record keeping
- Ability to maintain detailed records and prepare accurate reports
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of district, student, customer or vendor information
- Excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
- Ability to problem solve and effectively communicate
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to interact effectively with the public, district staff and district administration
