SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday, class hours are 8:30am - 12:30pm

- Responsible for being fully knowledgeable in reading, math, science and social studies.
- Administers pre-tests at the various probation department sites.
- Works directly with students that are identified to be in need of remedial work to prepare them for the GED Exam. Provides individual instruction and tutoring as needed.
- Provides weekly progress reports to probation staff indicating progress.
- Assists with various job skills and introduction to higher education instruction as needed.
- Assisting and preparing for annual GED graduation.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
- High School Diploma/GED; Bachelor’s degree in an education or related field preferred.
- One-year practical experience in classroom teaching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with education representatives in the community, program participants, various volunteers and other department employees.
- Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
- Minimum 21 years of age.

- A felony conviction against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years; a deferred adjudication for a felony against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years or current felony probation or parole.
- A jailable misdemeanor conviction against the laws of this state, another state or the United States within the past 5 years; a deferred adjudication for a jailable misdemeanor against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 5 years or current misdemeanor probation or parole.
- Registered as a sex offender under Chapter 62, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
